2011 Films To Watch #10: The King's Speech

Yes, The King's Speech is already out at cinemas, but given that it is fast being tipped for BAFTAs and Oscars and I have yet to see it, right now it more than warrants a place in my Top 10 most anticipated films of 2011. Focused around the inspiring true story, Colin Firth plays King George VI, a monarch who struggled to overcome his voice impediment before giving his first historic war speech, with the help of a speech coach named Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) and his wife- and future Queen Mother- Queen Elizabeth. Normally this would be just the same as any other period drama, but the all-star cast including Timothy Spall, Derek Jacobi and Michael Gambon looks to ensure it a place in history (pardon the pun), and that's without the moving tale holding everything together in a flick that could easily be the best released this month. Does The King's Speech lives up to its hype? Check out my full review next week!
