Don Cheadle's incarnation of Marvel hero War Machine got his film debut in 2010 in Iron Man 2 (4/5), and it seems he proved popular enough with viewers to make another appearance: Cheadle told ComingSoon.net that "[the Iron Man team] are developing the spin-off now, they're working on that" and "they've hired a writer". Presumably this means that the actor will be the one to resume the role of War Machine in his own flick, and given the chronology of the Marvel films saw the character born in Iron Man 2 it's safe to assume that the spin-off will take place somewhere outside of New York and sometime after the events involving Russian foe Whiplash. Cheadle also revealed that he "doesn't think War Machine shows up in The Avengers", the upcoming team-up of Iron Man with Marvel legends such as Captain America, Thor and the Incredible Hulk, stating that he sees the character as "more of a lone wolf".
