Well, this is a rarity: today Square Enix announced the next instalment in the Final Fantasy franchise, and instead of it introducing a cast of new wayward adventurers and being known as the fifteenth episode, the sequel will be a direct successor to 2010's Final Fantasy XIII and will be accordingly titled Final Fantasy XIII-2. Only one screenshot has been released so far of FF13 protagonist Lightning looking out into the open air, so not much is known about what shape the storyline might take (not to mention I'm still working on completing XIII so don't know if it ends on a cliff-hanger), but with a HD trailer due to be debuted anytime now and a release scheduled for this Winter (probably early 2012, though, knowing Square Enix's pedigree for meeting release dates) it shouldn't be too long until we know all the facts!
