Guitar Hero Coming Back?

That announcement saying the Guitar Hero series was done, finished, never to return? It lied- speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Activision's Dan Winters clarified that the franchise is "on hiatus" for now, but will probably return in the future. "We're releasing products out of the vault," Winters said to the website, "we'll continue to sustain the channel, the brand won't go away. We're just not making a new one for [2011], that's all." Funny, that, because  Activision's disbanding of developers Vicarus Visions and FreeStyle Games (who worked on GH and DJ Hero respectively) in February really gave the impression that we'd seen the last of our Heroes until a far off reboot, but if Winters is to be believed then we may even see the series back for another entry in late 2012. Currently, though, we can expect Activision to "focus disproportionately on three big, huge monsters," namely Bungie's new science-fiction series starting in 2013, toy tie-in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure and this year's Call Of Duty.
