More Kinect Games Announced

Although the names had been thrust about behind-the-scenes at game shows and interviews, only now have we got the confirmation that UFC: Personal Trainer and Rise Of Nightmares will release for Microsoft's Kinect later this year. The former, set for release in June, will "deliver an authentic UFC fitness experience that is both fun and challenging, while providing an intense workout", described by developer Ubisoft as "an original high-impact product that will help people around the world set and achieve their personal fitness goals" (wait and see whether that's true in my review!), while the latter is a horror title by SEGA that has been announced to have an 18 rating by the British Board Of Film Classification. Speaking on Rise Of Nightmares, the board mentioned that "players use knives and chainsaws to kill zombies and disfigured monsters inside a mansion environment", with combat "highlighted by exaggerated sprays of blood, and damage often results in dismemberment or decapitation-stray body parts sometimes litter the ground". Both experiences sound like exciting new expansions for Kinect, but my question of Rise is whether enough hardcore gamers who are adults bought the peripheral and whether they want to play through their own horror movie (brilliant concept, but I don't have the stomach for it). No, for me it'll be the likes of Child Of Eden, Forza Motorsport 4, Star Wars and Steel Batallion that make the camera a worthwhile purchase in 2011. Certainly, though, expect my reviews of these at some point later this year.
