Fruit Ninja Kinect Review (5/10)

The iPhone application Fruit Ninja is a nice diversion from everyday life, allowing us gamers to take out our anger on animated fruit pieces by slashing them in half with our fingers. It's one of those neat diversions that need never not be taken any further, yet that's exactly what Microsoft decided to do with Fruit Ninja Kinect, and it really hasn't worked in their favour. The modes on offer are exactly the same as those on the original (a one-miss mode, a challenge mode with varying difficulties, and a mode where you can hone your skills), the only real difference being that you're using your arms and body to slash the fruit rather than simply your fingers. Don't get me wrong, the Kinect implementation is a dream, and if this costed the same as the iPhone app (59p), then I'd recommend it to you instantly, but you're looking at a good fiver's investment here, and there just isn't enough to play here to make the investment worth it. If you're really desperate to try it, go and get the retail Gunstringer bundle when it hits the half price mark- £15 for this and the Wild West Kinect shooter isn't as bad a deal.
