Top 20 Most Anticipated Games Of 2012: #20-#11

Think that this year's been a big one for video gaming? You're right- but still, next year's no slacker either. In fact, I'd call it more of a hardcore year for gamers, less focused on providing new instalments in the big annual franchises, more focused on either bringing brand new titles or new entries in multiple franchises that we haven't seen for years! So without further ado, let me take you through some of the biggest games you can expect to see in 2012, here looking at #20-#11...
#20: OVERSTRIKE- Premiered at E3 in the Summer, this new shooter looks interesting simply because it looks to be focused on fun and laughs, something that cannot be said about the FPS genre's greatest efforts of recent times.
#19: GHOST RECON: FUTURE SOLDIER- On the other hand, the Ghost Recon franchise remains as gritty as ever with Future Soldier, but at least we're getting Kinect support and fantastic HD visuals for us to tear up the battlefield with!
#18: TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON- The VGA trailer for Fall of Cybertron depicted an emotional final battle for the Autobots before their escape to Earth, and the surprisingly decent 2010 shooter War for Cybertron gives me hope that High Moon may just do the conflict justice.
#17: THE WiiU: Admittedly hampered in its reveal at E3, Nintendo seem to have gone back to the drawing board a bit on their WiiU console for its E3 2012 reveal in June. Hopefully, we'll see why we should be calling this exciting new hardware the first line of the next generation when it gets unveiled once more at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and then at E3. Besides, who wouldn't want to see Arkham City looking even better than it did on 360 and PS3?
#16: STEEL BATALLION: HEAVY ARMOUR- A Kinect-exclusive sequel to one of the most infamous games ever to hit the Xbox, Steel Batallion: Heavy Armour takes us into the near future, and boasts an interesting controller/Kinect control scheme to try out.
#15: SOUTH PARK: THE GAME- Obsidian have a great track record with games like Fallout: New Vegas under their belt, so it's not beyond comprehension to think that their work with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to make the ultimate South Park RPG could come to fruition come Summer 2012!
#14: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN- Movie tie-in games have never fared as well as they should in the past. However, while not perfect by any means, the initial VGA trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, an epilogue tale to the upcoming movie reboot, did show some promise, and Beenox provided a pretty good Spider-yarn last year with Shattered Dimensions, so I've got some hopes reserved for this one.
#13: STAR TREK- The sequel to 2009's great Star Trek movie reboot has now been pushed back to the Summer of 2013, but we should hopefully be getting this game- taking place inbetween the two movies- at some point next year, and the first footage has looked suitably epic.
#12: METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE- Thanks to Platinum Games, this Metal Gear spin-off has been pulled out of the cancelled games pit back into the land of the living. Where can Raiden's first full-blown adventure take him? I can't wait to find out...
#11: MAX PAYNE 3- Rockstar have given us Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire in the last few years, all of which have turned out to be fantastic examples of their respective genres, so I'd expect nothing less than shooter brilliance from Max Payne 3 come March 2012.
