2013 In Entertainment: Gaming Preview

What does 2013 hold for the video games industry?
There's no doubt that the next year or so will prove a VERY interesting time for the video games industry, as the Nintendo WiiU hits its full launch phase and Microsoft and Sony look to be readying their new next-generation consoles for release in late 2013. What confirmed software do we have to look forward to, though? I've compiled a list of all of the big games you should be on the look out for when New Year comes around, and of course as more game announcements keep on coming, this list will only continue to grow and grow...
JANUARY
DMC: DEVIL MAY CRY- This fantasy shooter has the chance to be a real hit as what looks to be one of the only major releases of its month, and considering it was delayed from releasing in April 2012, Capcom have had more than enough time to get it up to scratch!
FEBRUARY
ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES- If Gearbox manage to finally get the Alien video game formula right it'll be a miracle. After all the delays, though, I reckon fans such as myself will just be happy to see the game out!
BIOSHOCK: INFINITE- It was a shame to see Irrational's highly anticipated steampunk thriller BioShock: Infinite miss its Autumn 2012 release date, yet at least that's given the developers time to craft what should by all rights craft what should hopefully be an early contender for Game Of The Year 2013.
CRYSIS 3- One of EA's two massive releases coming this month, this stunning futuristic FPS threequel could well be one of the graphical highlights of 2013!
DEAD SPACE 3- Meanwhile, EA's other big hitter looks to provide intense, terrifying co-op action and a great solo campaign for players to blitz through in a new chapter of the sci-fi saga.
MARCH
SOUTH PARK: THE STICK OF TRUTH- Obsidian are bringing us a full-on South Park RPG that looks hugely faithful to the satirical animated TV series, so prepare for laughs and cringing galore as well as some hilarious Kinect insults!
TOMB RAIDER- Another big hitter that failed to stay in its 2012 slot, Crystal Dynamics' reboot of the Lara Croft franchise has every right to be a Game Of The Year contender too. Here's hoping it lives up to its full potential...
GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION- Every PlayStation fan has a birthright to be excited for a new God Of War, and rightly so. This prequel adventure looks to be one of a handful of fantastic send-offs for the PlayStation 3, so expect nothing less than gaming excellence!
AND THE REST- There are plenty of titles which haven't yet been totally confirmed or given release dates, but you can bet that they'll make appearances in 2013 in some form, so here's the full list...
BATTLEFIELD 4- Same as Activision below, EA and DICE will no doubt be ready to ship a new Battlefield as a PS3/360 conclusion and/or PS4/720 launch title.
CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 4- Or at least a COD of some kind. Perhaps Infinity Ward will return, perhaps not- either way, you can be sure Activision have a game plan.
THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE- Bethesda have a challenging task on their hands in bringing their Elder Scrolls franchise to the MMORPG market. If they succeed, though, they could have an absolute money megamoth on their hands!
FORZA MOTORSPORT 5- This sequel has been confirmed to be alternating with this year's Forza Horizon as the core entry in the Forza series, and you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be an Xbox 720 launch title.
GEARS OF WAR: JUDGEMENT- Perhaps the last big Xbox 360 title, Judgement is a prequel to the Gears Of War trilogy that features Cole and Baird in an epic new adventure to start off a new series!
GRAND THEFT AUTO V- I'm putting this on the list as a failsafe for the lack of concrete gameplay footage so far indicating that GTA V won't reach a 2012 release date. All the same, what a way to end the 360 and PS3's life spans- there's no better way to go out than with a new game from Rockstar!
HALO 5- Again, no confirmation of this being out in 2013 yet, but Microsoft clearly like their annual franchise format for Halo, so expect this doubled up as a 720 launch title and a 360 conclusion.
INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US- This DC side-scrolling fighter is the antithesis to Marvel VS Capcom 3, so expect DC Games to put in as much effort as possible to make Gods Among Us stand out big time!
METRO: LAST LIGHT- This intriguing shooter from THQ was pushed back from a Q1 2012 release to Q1 2013, so hopefully the extra development time will be helped!
THE LAST OF US- If PS3 needed one massive game to send it off, then Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us will do that in spectacular fashion. Don't be surprised if there's a PS4 version, too.
