Avengers Assemble: Director's Cut Rumoured

Will this Summer's greatest movie return for an encore run?
I have no qualms in saying that Avengers Assemble is quite possibly the best movie I've seen this year so far. War Horse and The Muppets are great pieces in their own rights too, and you can expect to see both of them in favourable positions on the 'Best Films Of 2012' list in December, but to me Assemble is in another league thanks to it managing to satisfy and meet our expectations (and succeed them) with such aplomb and vigour. Although there's been no confirmation on this matter yet, it has been heavily rumoured in the past few days that this epic masterpiece of a superhero film will be making a return to cinemas in August. The encore edition would apparently be a Director's Cut, adding around 35 minutes of unseen footage focusing more on Captain America's displacement in time and the intimate moments that build the relationships of the various Avengers. If this were to come to pass, then we would be looking at a 3-hour version of the film, something that I'm sure would entice fans to return to the big screen to see it again for the umteempth time, and something which thus Disney would be well-justified to use if they want to push the film towards toppling Titanic and/or Avatar from their positions at the top of the highest-grossing films list. We'll have to wait for confirmation, it would certainly be a heck of a way to end the Summer Of Film! Avengers Assemble is out in cinemas now, and if the Director's Cut rumours are true then we'll see it in late August, before the DVD and Blu-Ray versions hit on September 17th.
