ComicCon: Marvel Reveals Future Movies

Prepare for Avengers: Phase Two with Marvel's ComicCon announcements!
It seems that Marvel are wasting no time getting to work with their next stage of the Avengers franchise, as they stated that 'Phase Two Begins- NOW!' at the opening of their ComicCon panel yesterday. On top of that, they revealed a good handful of new projects that their teams are hard at work on and that will provide the strong foundations for the next ensemble team-up movie. Here's a roundup of everything that was announced in the exciting news panel...
  • IRON MAN 3- Already halfway through production, this third Iron Man film will focus on the 'Extremis' comic-book storyline. It will feature Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley as its villains (the latter playing the Mandarin) and a whole load of new Iron Man suits! Iron Man 3 releases on May 3rd, 2013.
  • THOR: THE DARK WORLD- Little is known about this sequel to 2011's hit superhero film Thor, but the new title seems to indicate that we're headed to an all new alien world during it. Expect Earth to play a part too, but expect also to see what effect Odin's costly transportation of Thor during Avengers Assemble had. Thor: The Dark World debuts in cinemas on November 15th, 2013.
  • CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER- This sequel to Captain America:The First Avenger garnered massive applause from the audience when its title was revealed, and thus the comic book it is adapting is pretty obvious. The previously thought-deceased Bucky Barnes will have a big role to play here, yet I'd say that we'll get a good few flashbacks as well. Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, 2013.
  • GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY- This was always quite a camp universe of the Marvel industry, but expect things to get a lot more serious for this announced modern adaptation of Guardians Of The Galaxy. As Thanos was involved with these characters, don't be surprised if he is the piece's villain to tie it into Avengers 2! Guardians Of The Galaxy lands on August 1st, 2014.
  • ANT MAN- Finally, Edgar Wright confirmed that he is in the early stages of directing an Ant Man movie. Ant Man is a well-known Avenger among fans, and as this was in a 'Phase Two' panel it seems he's set for bigger things than a standalone flick, so expect Ant Man possibly in late 2014 or very early 2015 so that Avengers 2 can arrive later in the latter year.
So a lot of very exciting announcements, and we're sure things only get better from here! You can see the newly revealed film logos below. Stay tuned to On-Screen for all the latest superhero news...
