UK Film Charts: July 16th-22nd

Batman swoops to the top of the charts with his finale debut!
It always seemed as if The Dark Knight Rises was a shoe-in to succeed across the world in its opening week, and Christopher Nolan's brilliant finale has in no way disappointed in this respect. Batman's third modern movie has bested old favourites like Spider-Man, Men In Black and Prometheus this week- although it hasn't topped Avengers' opening, it marks the highest number of sales for a 2D film ever in opening weekends, which is quite something! Things may change a bit in weeks to come when The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall and The Watch arrive, but for now we should make the most of the rightful throne of the chart king being inhabited by the Dark Knight's legendary end. Here's this week's charts in full:
10. KATY PERRY: PART OF ME (TF: 3/5)
9. PROMETHEUS (3/5)
8. MEN IN BLACK III (4/5)
7. SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD (TF: 3/5)
6. COCKTAIL
5. THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT (TF: 3/5)
4. MAGIC MIKE (TF: 4/5)
3. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (4.5/5)
2. ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT (3/5)
1. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (NEW, 5/5)
