The On-Screen Advent Calendar 2012: Day Six

TOP 5 BEST RELEASES FOR THE CHRISTMAS LIST
We're getting to the final days of the year now, so all of the big DVD, game and TV releases are all available for us to pick up or ask for in our Christmas lists. With nineteen days to go until Christmas Day, let's countdown the Top 5 Best Releases to stick on your list- there's gadgets, there's gaming experiences, there's films and more in this one. Read on and see for yourselves if these experiences match your own lists...
5. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN DVD- Marvel's reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise was a marked success back in the Summer, so what better way to celebrate than check out the first instalment of the new webbed saga? Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone still highlight a great flick that begs a watch if you missed it first time around. (£10)
4. AMAZON KINDLE- I've been the proud owner of a standard Amazon Kindle for a year now, and I can safely say that it's well worth an adoption by you readers who've yet to entice the idea of digital novels in their lives. The Kindle needn't replace hardback and paperback reads, but with the Fire and Paperwhite editions out now, there's every reason to get ahold of one of these brilliant technological devices. (Standard/Paperwhite: £69; Fire: £129; Fire HD: £159)
3. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES DVD- The final entry in Christopher Nolan's Batman movie saga remains quite possibly the Best Film of 2012 so far. Laden with satisfying payoffs, The Dark Knight Rises simply deserves another watch regardless of whether you saw it once, twice or even more times than that when it made a colossal shockwave in cinemas! (£10)
2. NINTENDO WiiU- Yep, it really is here: the first piece of hardware to launch the next-generation of consoles has arrived. The WiiU has landed, and it brings with it a tonne of big launch games that mix old favourites like Batman: Arkham City and Mass Effect 3 with the new launch hits such as New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land for a big first Christmas impact. Don't miss out on the WiiU, because come 2013 there'll be plenty of big hitters for this innovative console. (8GB White: £250; 16GB Black Nintendo Land Bundle: £300)
1. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE COLLECTION- Packaging together Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this DVD and Blu-Ray film collection brings Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and Avengers Assemble into one grand ensemble box set. If you want to relive the superheroic adventures of the Avengers in preparation for Phase Two can do no better than picking up this major release! (DVD: £30; Blu-Ray: £40)
