An Adventure In Time And Space Cast Announced

Mark Gatiss reveals who we can expect to see in the BBC2 docudrama!
News announcements for Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary year are getting more frequent by the day, and among today's reveals is writer Mark Gatiss' revelation of the major cast members for his origins docudrama An Adventure In Time And Space. Set to air as part of the anniversary celebrations later this year, the 90-minute drama will focus on the inception of the sci-fi programme and the early days of its production for the original BBC1 team.

It's been confirmed by Gatiss today that David Bradley (Harry Potter's Filch and Dinosaurs On A Spaceship's Solomon) will play William Hartnell. It's a great piece of casting, and one that seems to fit more and more the moment you compare images of the 70-year old Game Of Thrones star to those of Hartnell himself. In addition, Jessica Raine (star of Call The Midwife and the upcoming Who story Phantoms Of The Hex) will portray Verity Lambert, and Brian Cox (best known as X-Men 2's William Stryker) will be the episode's Sydney Newman. Finally, Sacha Dahawan will play Waris Hussein, the director of the very first ever story An Unearthly Child.

This exciting docudrama is written by Mark Gatiss, who's also its executive producer along with Doctor Who head honchos Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner. An Adventure In Time And Space will broadcast on BBC2 this November.
