Marvel News: First Avengers Phase 3 Films Announced

Kevin Feige spills the beans on what to expect after The Avengers 2...
We've been pretty lucky in terms of big Marvel film news these past few weeks, what with the confirmation of pre-production commencing on Joss Whedon's TV series SHIELD this week amongst other important reveals. Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige isn't done there, though, today revealing to the world just what movies we can expect to make up the first stages of Avengers Phase Three once The Avengers 2 has released. The full guide to Feige's unveils is right here below...

  • ON ANT-MAN: "Ant-Man is definitely a part of [Avengers] Phase Three. Like Iron Man 3, it's certainly set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's also through the lens of Edgar Wright- which is the only reason we're making the movie. It's very much an Ant-Man origins movie from the perspective of Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a very different corner than we've seen before."
  • ON DOCTOR STRANGE: "Doctor Strange is definitely one of [our plans]. He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians Of The Galaxy. He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is Ant-Man, which keeps us excited."
  • ON THE FUTURE: "So much of the stories we're telling is about the core Avengers characters we've now met, and they'll be evolving in big, surprising ways, in Cap's next movie and Thor's next movie and of course in Iron Man 3, as we get them all into the next Avengers film. Beyond that...Ant-Man is the only one officially announced, but you probably don't have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we're toying with and beginning to develop."
To sum up currently announced release dates: Iron Man 3 lands on May 3rd, Thor: The Dark World on November 8th, Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th, 2014, Guardians Of The Galaxy on August 1st, 2014, The Avengers 2 on May 1st, 2015, Ant-Man on November 6th, 2015 and Doctor Strange in 2016.
