Medal Of Honor Franchise Shelved By EA

The publishers confirm they're giving the semi-Battlefield series a long rest!
Electronic Arts have today confirmed that the Medal Of Honor modern warfare shooter video game series will not be continued for the foreseeable future. The franchise's newest instalment was Warfighter, released last year to mediocre sales and even worse critical reviews on the whole.

Here's the official word from EA on the matter: "We haven't announced a new project for the Medal Of Honor development team, although there are other projects in development in Los Angeles and throughout our other EA studios. We're going to give Medal Of Honor a rest while we plan its return. We haven't made a decision on how or when it will returns." The signs certainly aren't positive, though, especially with the company's CEO Peter Moore adding the following comments on the 2012 incarnation: "Warfighter was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers. Critics were polarised and gave the game scores which frankly were lower than deserved. This one is behind us now. We're taking Medal Of Honor out of rotation and have to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

We'll have all the latest news on the developments for the Medal Of Honor franchise as it comes in the year ahead. EA's next big modern warfare shooter, Battlefield 4, is set for release in fiscal year 2014 (April 2013-March 2014).
