First Crysis 3 Reviews Arrive

CryTek's third FPS beauty lands in stores on Friday- what's the critics' verdict?
The signs for Crysis 3 weren't promising in the UK with virtually no advertising campaign to speak of, and it seems that it really won't be the fabled FPS breakthrough that so many fans were hoping for. Sure, the reviews are stronger than recent shooter efforts such as Aliens: Colonial Marines, yet that isn't saying much, and it's really not a positive attribute that barely any score-based leeway has really been bridged since Crysis 2 landed back in 2010. Without further ado, though, let's examine what the press have to say on this visually splendid trilogy finale...
EDGE (6/10)- "It looks beautiful, of course. What was lost along the way? Crysis 3 has neither direction nor freedom, and is not aware of its limits, insisting that players only need lots of weapons to have fun."
GAMES RADAR (70%)- "Crysis 3 is a gratifying shooter experience- while not treading new ground for the FPS genre, it will keep you entertained through the (short) campaign and long after with its addictive online modes."
DIGITAL SPY (8/10)- "If you didn't like Crysis 2, then the third game is unlikely to change that, particularly due to technical errors in presentation and performance. But those who did will still find reason to pull back on the Nanosuit and venture out in New York."
CVG (85%)- "It's a showpiece, a supermodel FPS, but on consoles there's little makeup to conceal its lack of ideas- the series still remains a long, long way behind Half-Life and Halo."
GAMESPOT (75%)- "The campaign is several hours shorter than Crysis 2's, and doesn't reproduce the thrills that lit up the previous games. Yet this is a fully-featured sci-fi shooter on its own terms that makes a lot of fun out of torturing extraterresterial abominations."
IGN (85%)- "Crysis 3 is not quite a next-generation experience come early, but it's a superbly controlled, tightly paced and tactically flexible shooter with a satisfyingly focused story, and an excellent way to tie up the Crysis series...for now."
