ABC Studios and Marvel Studios have today released a new promotional trailer (below) for their upcoming television drama series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. Taking place after the events of Avengers Assemble, the show maintains a mantra that "not all heroes are super", chronicling the commissioning of a team of SHIELD agents by the revived Agent Coulson to battle supernatural and super-powered threats in New York.
Certainly, as premises go this is one quite different set-up to anything we've seen before. Of course, shows based around secret organisations are commonplace these days, but to have a series so richly integrated into the realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is an enticing prospect indeed. A central strand in the first season's narrative arc will revolve around just how Coulson was resurrected, yet naturally director and writer Joss Whedon will play his cards on the matter close to his chest until later in the run!
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD premieres on ABC this September 24th and on Channel 4 this Autumn.
