Five New Marvel TV Shows Announced

Disney and Netflix announce an incredible new multi-year television project deal...
Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios and Netflix have today announced the development of five new television shows based on hit comic-book properties. The news comes in the wake of ABC's ambitious initial Marvel Cinematic Universe TV project Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, the first season of which is currently airing on Channel 4 in the UK every Friday.

Just what will this multi-year deal entail, then? For starters, a Daredevil TV show will be developed to released on Netflix in 2015, spanning at least thirteen episodes. After that the situation will only become more frantic, with adaptations of the Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage franchises then scheduled to be released in thirteen-episode seasons in the months following Daredevil's première. And after that? In a move set to rival even the MCU itself, each of the four superhero characters will team up in The Defenders, a mini-series which is hoped to be a televisual equivalent to the Avengers ensemble motion pictures. Whether this deal puts Agents of SHIELD's future into question is a point of debate right now, but for Marvel fans it's nevertheless an extremely exciting time to follow the studio's on-screen adaptations.
