Academy Awards 'Let It Go' Live Performance Confirmed

For those hoping to get Disney's most infectious song yet out of their heads, apologies in advance...
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Scientists have today confirmed that their upcoming film awards ceremony will play host to a live performance from the lead star of Disney's 2013 animated movie Frozen. Currently nominated for 'Best Animated Feature' and 'Best Original Song' at the Oscars, the fantasy flick was a smash hit upon its arrival in cinemas last December, and earned a mighty 5* score here at On-Screen.

Idina Menzel will take to the stage next month to sing perhaps the movie's best-known musical number, Let It Go (the same number which is up for the aforementioned 'Original Song' gong). Alongside the rest of Frozen's cast, Menzel gave a brilliant live rendition of her acclaimed single at a secret concert held in the United States last night ahead of this morning's announcement. While fans will naturally be dying for a joint performance of Do You Want To Build A Snowmen by Menzel and her co-star Kristen Bell, in this case we'll take what we're given, since Let It Go was easily one of 2013's finest musical contributions and one of Disney's finest tunes to boot (which in itself is no mean feat given the studio's vast back-log of iconic melodies).

The 86th Academy Awards will air on ABC and Sky Movies Première this March 2nd. For now, though, why not check out a superb parody effort based on Star Trek: The Next Generation?
