Assassin's Creed: Unity Announced

Travel to the French Revolution with the latest instalment of Ubisoft's annual franchise.
Ubisoft Montreal have today announced the development of Assassin's Creed: Unity for release this Holiday. The seventh outing in Ubisoft's now-annualised franchise of action-adventure video games was leaked by Kotaku earlier this week, and purportedly takes place in the midst of the French Revolution (as you'll no doubt work out for yourself in the teaser trailer, below).

This time around, though, that's not all. Unless Kotaku's sources were misinformed, then it seems that we'll play host to not one but two new Assassin's Creed titles before the year's out. The second of these (the existence of which Ubisoft has yet to comment on) is apparently titled Assassin's Creed: Comet, and will reportedly ship on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 so as to appease those fans who are still clinging desperately on to their last-generation consoles by that point. No details have been confirmed as of yet as to precisely when Comet's narrative will take place, but provided that the project doesn't leak via screenshots as was the case with Unity, expect to hear more on its setting and gameplay features when both titles are officially revealed in the late months of Spring.

Assassin's Creed: Unity sneaks onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this Winter.
