Elementary Third Season Commissioned

The Great Detective will return, and in this case, it WON'T take two years.
CBS have today announced the commissioning of a third season of their detective drama Elementary. Based loosely on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories, the series stars Jonny Lee Millar as the iconic Baker Street detective and Lucy Liu as his ever-faithful assistant Joan Watson (not to mention Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer in an incredible turn as Jamie Moriarty).

On the basis of its early episodes, we wouldn't have blamed you for skipping Elementary's first season altogether. Make no mistake, though, the programme has gone from strength to strength ever since the second half of Season One (which featured Dormer's stunning début), introducing a number of compelling new renditions of classic characters including Rhys Ifans' incarnation of Mycroft Holmes and Sean Pertwee's Inspector Lestrade and providing worthy takes on some of the most beloved Holmes tales in the franchise's history. Even if it came off as a tedious Sherlock rip-off at first, the series has come into its own now and could certainly warrant a look from the sceptics among you when it returns for another twenty-two episode run.

Elementary continues its season season on Sky Living with All In The Family this Saturday March 15th at 9pm and will return to both CBS and Sky Living for Season Three this Autumn.
