Spider-Verse Announced

Because why have one Spider-Man when you can have ALL of them?
Marvel Comics have today announced the publication of Spider-Verse, a major crossover storyline in the Spider-Man comic-book franchise which will begin later this year. Branching out primarily from the soon-to-be-restored The Amazing Spider-Man series, this celebratory arc will belatedly commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic web-slinging superhero's printed adventures (a birthday which actually came to pass as far back as the Summer of 2012).

If the graphic novel's title didn't give it away, Spider-Verse will feature not one, not two but every incarnation of the character that has appeared in his comic-book saga over the course of the past half-century to battle their most ancient and seemingly invulnerable adversary- Morlun. From Ultimate Spider-Man's Miles Morales to 1602's Peter Parker, the narrative will not be selective in its inclusions, with writers Dan Slott and Oliver Copiel even going so far as to include the infamous pig Spider-Ham (yes, really!) in proceedings. As if that weren't enough, Slott and Copiel confirmed at yesterday's reveal event that new, never-before-seen renditions of Peter Parker's arachnid-themed alter-ego will appear in what promises to be an unprecedented, all-encompassing crossover yarn!

Spider-Verse will commence publication in the US this November, with a UK release for the graphic novel version of the storyline currently scheduled for TBC 2015.
