The Incredibles 2 & Cars 3 Announced

Two of Disney Pixar's biggest franchises return to the big-screen for new outings!
Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios have this week announced the production of further instalments in the Cars and The Incredibles film franchises. Currently going under the working titles of Cars 3 and The Incredibles 2, these much-anticipated follow-ups will feature many of the beloved characters who made their respective franchises' début outings such instant hits with audiences across the world.

If we didn't make our stance on such matters abundantly clear in our coverage of Disney's upcoming re-release slate, it's the confirmation of a return for the studio's now-iconic superheroic family which has instilled the most joy in us here at On-Screen during this surprisingly warm third week of March. The very man who brought us the screenplay of The Incredibles back in 2004 (doesn't a decade fly?), Brad Bird, has returned to draft up a script for the sequel, meaning that there's already a virtual guarantee in place of Pixar knocking the ball out of the park once again. Hearing that the Cars series is entering third gear isn't quite so reassuring, on the other hand, especially in light of the mediocre Planes spin-offs we've been receiving of late, and yet it's a small sacrifice to make given how long fans such as us have yearned to return to the world of Mr Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash and Violet- if anyone manages to work out how to speed up time so as to shorten the wait until the second instalment's as of yet unspecified release date, then let us know ASAP!

The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 will launch in cinemas worldwide sometime after 2016 (the year in which we'll see Finding Dory hit our screens).
