X-Men: Days of Future Past Theatrical Trailer Released

James McAvoy returns as Charles Xavier
"You took the things that mean the most to me." "Maybe you should have fought harder for them..."
20th Century Fox have today released the first full theatrical trailer (below) for their upcoming superhero blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past. Bringing together an almighty ensemble of stars from X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class, this seventh chapter looks to be the most audacious instalment in the franchise's history, not to mention one of the most promising outings of this year's impending Summer of Film season.

No doubt there'll be plenty more for fans to speculate on from this visually stunning second preview, but of note to us were the extensive glimpses of the futuristic armada of Sentinels laying siege to an evidently dystopian incarnation of our planet, further interaction between Wolverine and James McAvoy's younger Charles Xavier and the appearance of Anna Paquin's name in the US trailer's cast-list confirming that Rogue will feature in Days (albeit minutely, judging by her absence from the video). Ultimately, however, we'd wager that it's the chance to see both the pairings of McAvoy and Michael Fassbender and Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen uniting once more to present us with another sample of their iconic on-screen chemistry before the series' continuity is presumably changed forever...

X-Men: Days of Future Past warps into UK cinemas nationwide on May 22nd.
