Marvel News: New Agents of SHIELD, F4 & Big Hero 6 Stars Announced

All the latest from the world of superheroes, secret agents and Stan Lee cameos...
In the midst of our absence (apologies about that, by the way- our internet connection went down for over a week!), Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox unveiled a host of new details on their upcoming big-screen and small-screen comic-book adaptations. As any of our readership who've encountered one of our 'Marvel News' feature articles in the past will know, from time to time, rather than uploading posts on each and every one of the various announcements made in the last few days, we occasionally round said announcements up into one cohesive and accessible piece for the masses.

Without further ado, then, here's our compilation of everything that's new in the land of Marvel, from Agents of SHIELD to Big Hero 6:

  • MORE AGENTS OF SHIELD GUEST STARS ANNOUNCED- ABC and Marvel Studios have recently revealed four new actors set to feature in the supporting cast of upcoming episodes of their detective drama series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. They are as follows: Patton Oswalt, an esteemed online comedian who will play the hapless SHIELD agent Eric Koening; Adrian Pasdar, who plays the Hulk's long-term adversary Glenn Talbot; Patrick Brennan, who takes on the role of the comic-book super villain Blackout's human alter-ego Marcus Daniels and Amy Ackers, who'll play none other than Phil Coulson's long-lost cellist girlfriend in Season One's eighteenth episode, Providence. Stay tuned for further news on the final episodes of Agents' first run and whether ABC elect to commission a second season of the fledging programme...
  • FIRST BIG HERO 6 LEAD STAR ANNOUNCED- What with all of the hype surrounding impending superhero films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy, it's all too easy to forget that there's another major Marvel project coming to cinemas before the year's end. Big Hero 6 is Disney Pixar's first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and indeed, we don't know quite whether it'll fit into the Avengers timeline yet), and as such, the animation studio are treading very lightly in terms of what's come before. Details on the Japan-set movie are limited right now, but we've just been informed that T.J. Miller will be one of the production's lead stars. Best known for his contributions to Gulliver's Travels (2010) and Get Him to the Greek (2010), Miller will play the character of Fred here, an aspiring director who joins a team of wannabe superheroes in their quest to battle evil Oriental forces. Big Hero 6 sets up shop in cinemas worldwide on November 7th.
  • NEW THE FANTASTIC FOUR GUEST STAR REVEALED- Variety have today confirmed a new guest star set to feature in 20th Century Fox's upcoming superhero film The Fantastic Four. In case you hadn't heard, this one is a reboot, so Jessica Alba and co have been replaced by up-and-coming actors such as Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller this time around. The latest addition to its growing ensemble is Toby Kebbell, a little-known Brit star who has previously featured in big-budget projects including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and War Horse, and who will no doubt acquire himself fame on a whole new level as he takes on the mantle of the film's central antagonist Doctor Doom. The Fantastic Four hits cinemas across the universe (starting with Earth-616) on June 19th, 2015.
For all the latest news, reviews, previews and features on Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox's upcoming superhero-themed projects, keep it On-Screen in the days ahead!
