Rock Band Franchise Revival Teased

Harmonix want you to dust off those long-forgotten guitar controllers and prepare for an almighty reunion tour.
Harmonix Music Studios have this week revealed plans to revive the Rock Band video game franchise in the not too distant future. The news comes fresh from the showfloor of the Eastern Penny Arcade eXpo convention, where Harmonix's commander-in-chief Alex Rigopulos took to the stage to discuss the status of the long-dormant series of rhythm-testing products.

Though it's by no means a definitive confirmation that Rock Band 5 is currently in the works, Rigopulos teased that Harmonix have "grand plans" for the franchise and the Dance Central series, the latter of which has served as a worthy spin-off brand in recent years over on the Xbox 360. The CEO went on to claim that should the two brands make a return, they'll do so "with guns blazing" on Sony and Microsoft's 'current generation' hardware, i.e. the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Keep it On-Screen for all of the latest news on the future of Rock Band, Dance Central and the video gaming industry's seemingly resurrected music genre in the months ahead.

Whilst you wait, though, Rocksmith 2014 is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac devices.
