New Arrow & Gotham Guest Stars Announced

Source: CG Meet Up
A familiar face and a mysterious ally arrive on the DC TV scene!
Fox and The CW have today announced two new guest stars set to feature in the cast ensembles of their superhero and detective dramas Arrow and Gotham respectively. The former show is entering its third season later this year, with the new run pitting the titular hooded protagonist against his arch-enemy the Dark Archer (aka Malcolm Merlyn, who's played by John Barrowman), whereas the latter series is on course for its first ever run, which will chronicle its central character James Gordon's efforts to bring the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne to justice.

First up is Peter Stormare, an up-and-coming American thespian who recently appeared in The Blacklist and who'll now take on the role of Count Vertigo in Arrow Season Three. Seasoned fans of the series will no doubt recall that Seth Gabel played the Count in the first and second seasons of the critically acclaimed programme, but Stormare's incarnation is likely to be an altogether more dangerous antagonist for Oliver Queen's night-archer alter-ego in the première episode of the latest run.

Moreover, Carol Kane has just been announced at TV Line to portray Gertrud Kapelbut in a recurring capacity in Gotham Season One. Kane is most prominently known in the States for her work on productions such as Taxi and Girls (the latter of which is a truly accomplished US comedy-drama, or so we hear), yet in taking on the metaphorical mantle of the mother of Oswald Cobblepot (better known to Bat-fans everywhere as the nefarious Penguin), the actress' talents will surely be put to the test in a more daunting (and publicized) manner, since there's no question that DC fans can be ruthless when it comes to representational fidelity.

Arrow returns for its third season of high-octane escapades this October 8th on The CW (and Sky1, eventually) and Gotham débuts on Fox this Autumn.
