The Elder Scrolls Online PS4 / Xbox One Edition Revised Launch Window Revealed

Skyrim was just the beginning. The problem is, the next chapter's taking its good time to arrive.
Bethesda Game Studios have this week announced via their official blog the latest in a series of delays for the next-generation home console editions of their recent massively multiplayer online role-playing video game product The Elder Scrolls Online. Situated in the same narrative universe as past franchise instalments such as 2007's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and 2011's Skyrim, Online does what it says on the tin, opening up Skyrim and the like to be explored by countless players simultaneously as well as setting up the events of the aforementioned Elder Scrolls of old through a prequel-esque main campaign which can be bested at any time fans so desire.

As turbulent development schedules go, we're starting to wonder if - barring perhaps Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines (both of which were developed by Gearbox and sailed as smoothly as the Titanic come the moment that the critical embargo ended) - Online's might well stand amongst the best (or rather worst) of them. Whereas the PC edition of the title launched back in April this year, the PS4 / Xbox One version seems to somehow have been destined for technical issues from the outset, a troubling revelation given the extent to which Skyrim in particular rallied even reviewers such as yours truly into applauding the franchise's new-found ingenuity (in spite of its side missions ultimately amounting to tediously repetitive fetch-and-fight quests). Such hitches are still seemingly being blamed by Bethesda for the flurry of setbacks which their latest - yet by no means greatest, if the lukewarm critical reception to the original PC-exclusive iteration is any indication - project has fallen prey to in the latter stages of its increasingly belated birth. Nevertheless, keep it On-Screen for more details on The Elder Scrolls Online's launch window as well as rumoured Bethesda products such as Fallout 4 (details on which could even be with us before the year's out).

The Elder Scrolls Online will now purportedly begin to impart its legend on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in Spring 2015.
